Lottery scams lure people by the promise of large sums of money for the payment of a small upfront “processing” fee. The victims end up losing this money. It is difficult to prevent these scams as the criminals do not use any technical flaw in the software and uses social engineering to further their devious interests. Lottery scams present a difficult challenge to law enforcement agencies worldwide as the criminals operate across territorial boundaries and are extremely difficult to track.
